Leaving shortly after his birth for Africa, the cradle of his earliest musical experiences, Frédérick Martin approached composition as an autodidact. Abandoning his lycée on his return to France, he worked for nine years as a copyist for various publishing houses without ever renouncing composition: between 1979, the year of his first opus, and his residence at the Villa Medici (1989), some ten or so compositions formed his catalogue. After two ans at Ircam where he followed the computer=assisted composition course, Frédérick Martin was a laureate of the programme Villa Medici fuori muri in 1993 and flew to California.

Aureliano Cattaneo studied the piano and composition at the conservatories of Plaisance and Milan, before taking advanced classes with Gérard Grisey and Mauricio Sotelo. The composer of some thirty works for various formations, he shows a genuine taste for chamber music, without however neglecting other genres, for example that for voice, which in recent years has been enriched by such important works as the chamber opera Le philosophe dans le labyrinthe (2005), the result of his second collaboration with Eduardo Sanguinetti after Minotaurus dreaming (2003). His works have received several awards and Aureliano Cattaneo has had various residences, notably for the ensemble 2e2m.
