Igeltsoak/craies - Lazkano
Encounter with Ramon Lazkano, composer in residence with 2e2m
Coordination Lionel Esparza
Ever since 2001 the composer Ramon Lazkano has been working on a large cycle Le Laboratoire des Craies (‘The Laboratory of the Chalks’), reference being made to the ‘Experimental laboratory’ of Jorge Oteiza (Orio 1908 – San Sebastian 2003), one of the most important Basque sculptors.
This cycle will conclude with the premiere of Oinatz/ Egan-4 on 19 May 2011 in the Auditorium Marcel Landowski of the Paris Regional Conservatory.
By examining the idea of a laboratory as a special place for experiments, exercise, the fusion of light-weight units and that of chalk as a texture, matter, friability, memory, a figure to be effaced, the encounter opens with a portrait of Ramon Lazkano and an analysis of Ortzi Isilak (2005) for clarinet and orchestra. It will then examine more widely the dialogues opened up by the aural and conceptual world of Ramon Lazkano between language, the visual arts and music.
