12th competition of contemporary sacred music - Schwäbich Gmünd

To promote contemporary sacred music, the Festival European Sacred Music Schwaebisch Gmuend (Germany) organizes every two years a competition of composing alternating with ordering a composition by a chosen composer.

The competition is open to all composers of any age and nationality.

For the theme of the 2014 festival "Paradise", a work for a boys choir a cappella (SATB) is to be composed, which refers on the following passages from the Bible: Isaiah 11, 1.2.6 and 35, 1 – 2 (Einheitsübersetzung ©1980 Katholische Bibelanstalt Stuttgart).
The composer could also choose another translation of this passages from the Bible or other texts, if free performance and stage rights are guaranteed and submitted with the composition.

The work should take 8 – 12 minutes to perform.

The work chosen by the jury will be first performed in the ecumenical opening service of the festival on 18th July 2014 by the Hymnus Boys Choir Stuttgart directed by KMD Johannes Homburg.

The composition is to be sent until January 3, 2014 (date of postmark) in five copies to:
