The young Russian composer Dmitri Kourliandski (born in 1976) defines his music as ‘objective music’, marked by an absence of action: “I like what seems static and yet at the same time is thought-provoking. Like a river, where nothing happens, yet you can look at it for hours. If you see boats on it or people swimming, it becomes less interesting”. In order to bring out the originality of his aural and conceptual world, the encounter offers an autoportrait, and will then organise dialogues on key ideas such as constructivism or conceptualism, without forgetting the debate on the state of music in post-Soviet Russia.
