A clarinettist by training, Matteo Franceschini studied composition with Alessandro Solbiati at the Milan Conservatory before taking advanced studies with Azio Corghi at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome, then in France at Ircam, where he followed the composition and computer music course (2006-2008).
He has won many prizes and has received commissions, notably from the French state, the Venice Biennial (Legenda for violin and ensemble, 2007), Rheims Opera, the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France (Exercices de styles, 2010), the RAI.
