Plurielles. Contemporary landscape with female composers

Wednesday 11 March 2015 - 09:45

Coordination Geneviève Mathon and Sophie Lacaze

Female composers, proportionately very few in number in the profession, hold a lowly position in the contemporary musical landscape. Yet they bring to today’s musical creation a rich diversity that merits a higher profile in programmes as in the media and in teaching.

The association Plurielles 34 brings together female composers, musicologists and performers, and is intended as a place for reflexion and action with regard to these objectives. This day session will present some of the aspects of current and future production and will seek to (re)define its position and its impact within French institutions, its outlets for programming, diffusion and teaching. There will be round tables, interventions by female composers, philosophers and musicologists, musical interludes and dialogues between the different players in today’s musical life.

With the participation of Marie-Hélène Bernard, Raphaële Biston, Pascale Criton, Graciane Finzi, Geneviève Fraisse, Claire Gibault, Suzanne Giraud, Christine Groult, Sophie Lacaze, édith Lejet, Geneviève Mathon, Nathalie Négro, Hyacinthe Ravet, Yves Riesel, Claire Renard, Jean-Claude Thévenon, Wilfried Wendling.
