Philippe Manoury: questions of a composer, questions of composition

Ircam

Coordination Philippe Lalitte

At the cutting edge of research and innovation in both his instrumental or vocal works and his electronic music, Philippe Manoury is engaged with his time and probes it tirelessly.
His recourse to new technologies, the instrumental gesture and performance, the organisation of music in time, the relationship between writing and perception, the diffusion and the place of music in society are so many issues that underlie his works and permeate his writings.
This day study session, part of the festival ManiFeste-2012, will be the occasion for (re)reading the work of Philippe Manoury, and, more generally, considering the composition, the perception and the reception of his music, as well as the composer’s position with regard to scientific, social and cultural upheavals.
