Born under a piano - Portrait of Michel Decoust

Thursday 26 May 2016 - 14:30

On the occasion of the release of the book Né sous un piano [Born under a piano], a series of interviews with Michel Decoust compiled by Daniel Durney and Philippe Raynaud for the publisher MF, the Cdmc is organising a day session of encounters focussing on this composer.

Musician, composer, conductor, cultural developer for the regions, conservatory director, head of Ircam’s pedagogy department, general inspector for the French Ministry of Culture…

Romantic, demanding, open, respectful, understanding, concerned, rigorous, curious…

And yet, who are you, Monsieur Decoust?

Two concerts precede the day session:

Wednesday 16 March 2016 – 20h – Salle des fêtes in the Hôtel de Ville, Versailles
Thursday 17 March 2016 – 19h – Auditorium Marcel Landowski – Paris Regional Conservatory

On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the idea of asking students of the conservatories of Paris and Versailles jointly to organise two concerts in homage to the French composer Michel Decoust was but an obvious response to the musical and pedagogical interest in an output constructed with patience and passion throughout a whole life.
Xavier Delette and Bernard Soulès

On the programme:
Concerto for violin and orchestra – conductor Xavier Delette, S. Lethiec, solo violin
Et la lumière encore… for orchestra, chorus and soloists – conductor Philippe Raynaud (soloists: nn)
