The Esoterics announces an international call for a cappella choral scores in its annual competition for choral composition, POLYPHONOS, from the Greek πολυφωνος, "having many voices" or "manifold in expression."
The purpose of The Esoterics' POLYPHONOS competition is to encourage today's choral composers to broaden the scope of the a cappella repertory by setting texts from beyond the Western classical canon.
There will be up to three POLYPHONOS awards :
• National composer (for choral composers who are US citizens)
• International composer (for choral composers who are not US citizens)
• Young composer (for choral composers under age 30 as of 31 December 2011)
Entry form, portfolio requirements and complete rules can be found at www.theesoterics.org/polyphonos
All applications must be complete and postmarked by 15 May 2011.
